Stopped by Philippe the Original the other day and grabbed their beef on a white roll. Gotta say, it was pretty awesome. The beef was nice and juicy, perfectly seasoned, and piled high on that soft white roll. Every bite was just right – no soggy bread or dry meat here. The place has this old-school vibe that’s kinda cool. It feels like stepping back in time with all the classic decor and that bustling atmosphere. Even though it can get pretty busy, the service was solid. The staff were friendly and got my order out quickly without any mix-ups. I also appreciated the little extras, like their horseradish sauce that added a nice kick to the sandwich. It’s those small touches that make the meal stand out. Plus, the prices were reasonable for what you get – a hearty, satisfying sandwich that hits the spot without emptying your wallet. If you’re in the mood for a tasty beef sandwich and want to soak up some classic LA history, Philippe the Original is definitely worth a visit. I’ll probably swing by again next time I’m craving something delicious and want to enjoy that old-timey charm.

I can especially love and appreciate a restaurant with some history and a great story, well this place has both. Read about how they invented the French Dipped Sandwich.(good story) Check this place out if you’re in the area. I love the nostalgia feeling to this place. They have a pay phone booth inside which is very cool for pictures and for those kids that never had to use one before. We all ordered different types of meals on our sandwich and they were all great. You can order and have your sandwich dipped as much as you like, or order the dipping sauce and dip as you like. You also have several selections on side dishes. To my surprise we all ordered the potato salad. Lol” maybe next time we will order something different to try. Overall we enjoy this place, good food. Fast service. There is a waiting, but the line moves rather quickly.

Retro atmosphere. Original French dip sandwich. Beef, pastrami, pork ... everything was great. Beef was tender and juicy with the jus. Pastrami was great also. I felt I went back to early 1900’.

This establishment is the best sandwich homemade food in my opinion the best in all of California. The place was clean and fresh and had lots good history that you can learn, it was almost like a museum. Me and my boss tried almost everything to start got some beef stew that was really flavorful highly recommend. We got some sandwiches the pastrami w cheddar cheese and the beef sand which w provolone both where amazing and we got the dip on the side. There pickled eggs where amazing and fresh very unique. Ended with some good apple pie that was perfect, everything tatsed like home and I was very happy to come here I will be visiting more often and can't wait to try new items. Also can't go wrong with there Arnold palmer drink refreshing. Thank you so much.

One of the best sandwich shop in the LA area, it’s over a hundred years old, and I was told that they were the first one who invented the French dip. I was lucky enough to go back in the kitchen and see how the meat was cooked and served. I tried the beef sandwich and the lamb and I was very impressed. The flavor was amazing and the dip had a great flavor. Philippe the original is the place to go visit, you won’t be disappointed.

All the food is good, and the portions are decent. Their famous beef dip sandwich or the pastrami are my favorites, but breakfast is just as good. Plenty of seating downstairs or upstairs. Don't forget to grab some of their hot mustard or other merch before you leave.

We are visiting Los Angeles and wanted to experience a true French Dip sandwich and Philippe was open. We enjoyed every bite of lamb and beef french dip. We shared a slice of cheesecake .. yummy. I had a Philippe lager beer ... great beer! My husband had lemonade ... real lemonade. The whole experience was great ... definitely recommend.
